‍Dear Visitor ‍

How do you handle emotional triggers during the holidays?

We all know that certain moments - songs, scents, or even conversations - can unexpectedly bring up powerful emotions, especially during this time of year.

I had one of those moments recently at a Christmas concert. After spending an afternoon exploring some powerful essential oils, I felt a deep emotional release, especially from one particular oil: Jasmine Sambac. It was cathartic. I felt vulnerable but also safe, surrounded by the lovely women in the course I’m attending here at Maribor University.

Here’s the full story of what happened:

This experience reminded me that grief doesn’t follow a timeline. This will be my 8th Christmas without Kevin, and I’ve learned to live with grief by allowing my emotions to flow rather than holding them back.

But what if you don’t feel safe expressing your emotions in public?

For those moments, I recommend Tonglen - an ancient Buddhist practice that teaches compassion for yourself and others. It has been a lifesaver for me during unexpected grief waves on buses, planes, or trains.

👉 Watch this short video to learn how Tonglen can help you navigate these challenging moments.
