| Here in the UK, we've already had some scorching days this summer, with another heatwave predicted for this week. It may be even hotter where you are - in Austria where I'm from, a 'good' summer means 30+ degrees Celsius consistently for weeks, often with very little cooling in between. I love the heat - it helps dry up the dampness that tends to accumulate in my body in winter. But I've noticed many people struggling with these recent heatwaves, feeling hot, sticky, uncomfortable and more easily irritated or angry than usual.
You may have noticed this in yourself too - perhaps you're snapping more easily, or dealing with digestive issues such as more bloating, softer stools, or acid reflux. And you may have noticed something else: the heat is changing how grief shows up in your body. Maybe anxiety that felt just about manageable before now feels completely overwhelming. Or perhaps you’re experiencing new symptoms you haven’t had before — heart palpitations, skin flare-ups, or sleep disturbances that feel different from your usual grief-related insomnia. There’s a reason why grief feels harder in summer. I’ve recorded a short video about this for you:
| | | 🌙 Trouble Falling Asleep? Tension Might Be the CulpritWhen we're grieving, the body holds on to enormous tension — especially in the shoulders, chest, and jaw. This physical tightness can keep you wired at night, even when you feel emotionally exhausted. For this situation, I recommend a topical magnesium spray. It bypasses digestion (which tends to be sluggish in grief and summer heat) and directly helps relax those grief-locked muscles — making it easier to unwind at bedtime. 💤 A few sprays before bed can help with: - Insomnia
- Restless legs or muscle cramps
- Tension or anxiety spikes at night

| What Kind of Magnesium Should You Be Taking? Not all supplements are created equal — and sadly, the supplement industry has become a little... sneaky.
If you've ever bought a magnesium supplement that claimed to contain "300mg" on the label, look closer. Many now list that amount as the total per 2 or 3 capsules — meaning you'd need to take double or triple the number of capsules to reach a therapeutic dose.
Try to find a supplement that provides at least 150mg per capsule so that you don't have to re-order so quickly. And always choose a pure magnesium supplement - not mixed with other vitamins or minerals, such as vitamin B6 or zinc, so that you can easily increase the dosage of magnesium only.
| | | Need Help Working Out What's Right for You?If you're not sure where to start, or you've tried supplements before and haven't felt any better — you don't have to figure it all out on your own. Sometimes the symptoms we're experiencing are just the surface signs of deeper imbalances — whether that's grief-related stress, nutrient depletion, or other imbalances. In a one-to-one session, we can take a closer look at your symptoms, your routines, and your constitution to find out what will actually work for you, in the middle of everything you’re going through.

| If you’re feeling more anxious, inflamed or exhausted than usual — this missing mineral may be the reason why. Your body is carrying more than you realise, and in summer, it can become harder to keep up. Supporting yourself doesn’t have to be complicated. A few targeted changes can make all the difference. I hope this gives you a good place to start. Take good care of yourself this week — and reach out if you need support that's more tailored to your unique needs. Stay cool and, above all, be gentle with yourself,
Sabine
