July, Issue 2

‍Dear Visitor, ‍

Life doesn't always go as planned – like today.

Picture this: It's stonking hot outside, you've just spent hours dismantling your shower (terrible timing, I know), which turned into deep-cleaning the entire bathroom, which somehow spiraled into a full 'spring' clean of the house – you know how one thing leads to another.... Add in prepping for a road trip to Austria, seeing clients, and somehow thinking you'd squeeze in learning the Charleston between it all.

The result? No lunch when I finally got home from a client consultation this morning. And absolutely no motivation to cook after being stuck in traffic in this heat….

So, what do you do?

Well, I didn't want to throw everything I teach completely overboard, so I settled for a compromise – an apple smoothie. Warm, not cold, to make it easier to digest. Full of goodness and flavour – electrolytes, fibre, protein, and healthy fats - the whole rigmarole.

My Compromise This Lunchtime

‍The 5-Minute Cooling Smoothie That Saved My Day

I took my own advice – the same one I gave to a client with swallowing issues after a stroke – and made this energetically cooling smoothie:

  • 1 apple
  • A few leftover apricots (perfectly ripe and sweet)
  • Ground seeds (for protein and healthy fats)
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • Fresh ginger (just a small piece)
  • A splash of rose water, coconut water, and a little hot water (to bring it all to room temperature)

Quick, hydrating, and very satisfying — no cooking required!

Note: Two glasses was a bit much for me, but they filled me up nicely until dinnertime.

Need Help With Your Symptoms? Let's Look Deeper

If you're struggling with

  • ongoing digestive issues,
  • emotional overwhelm on top, or
  • a mix of health issues that seem to be piling up at once (like some of my clients this week)

it’s worth looking deeper before the heat builds up and throws things further off balance. The earlier you take steps to support your body, the easier it becomes to alleviate discomfort and regain a sense of control — even when life is anything but steady.‍

That's it from me today. I'm off to a weekend of Morris dancing tomorrow and still need to get my packing done (the weather's meant to be absolutely glorious by the seaside!). Yes — I'm trying to squeeze that in as well before my road trip...

But I've already got a plan for tomorrow's lunch (and no, it doesn't involve fried seafood in this heat!). You might be able to guess, especially if you've been following me for a while…

I hope my tips will help you enjoy the heat a bit more and avoid anger, frustration, and other heat-related issues that can make life even more challenging than it already is when we're grieving.

Take good care and speak soon,

Sabine
