October, Issue 1

‍Dear Visitor,

‍Two weeks ago, I was invited to run another cooking workshop for a bereavement group in Tickhill. This time, I showed them how to prepare one of the top Ayurvedic meals for when your digestive system needs relief – whether you've lost your appetite due to grief and trauma, you're recovering from illness or chemotherapy, or you're simply exhausted because emotional stress has compromised your digestion and what you're eating is sitting heavy and undigested in your system.

I’ve seen this dish – kitchari – make a real difference. First with my husband, then with the son of a close friend after a life-threatening parasitic infection, and again with her disabled daughter after a six-week course of antibiotics left her digestive system in poor shape. In each case, this simple meal helped revive their digestive fire (‘agni’) and supported their recovery when nothing else would work.

Because this dish should be in everyone’s survival recipe repertoire, I’m sharing how to prepare it in my next Culinary Grief Workshop on Friday, 24th October (3:00pm - 5:30pm GMT).

When Your Body Needs a Reset

Whether grief has stolen your appetite or emotional stress has left your digestion struggling with what you eat, this workshop offers practical solutions.

We'll cook three simple, deeply nourishing dishes together. All are incredibly easy to digest – important because digestion requires around 60% of the energy we gain from our previous meal. When your system is struggling or overburdened, that's energy you simply don't have to spare.

And because difficulty swallowing often goes hand-in-hand with low appetite, I'll share simple tips to make swallowing easier and help ease food stagnation – the underlying cause of gas, bloating, reflux, and constipation.

Places are limited to 8 participants to ensure everyone can ask questions about their specific challenges.

Help Shape Something New: Focus Group Opportunity

I'm developing a comprehensive mini-course for people struggling with appetite loss – a step-by-step Appetite Revival Plan with Swallowing Support Tips.

If you'd like to trial the programme and help refine it for others, simply reply with "Focus Group" in the subject line. Your feedback would be invaluable for other grievers struggling to eat well after their profound loss.

If you know someone who is struggling, please share this one-time offer with them.
