‍Dear Visitor,

Easter can be a complicated time when you’re grieving.

It can feel lonely when everyone else is with family, or it can bring back memories of past Easters that felt very different to this one.

And then there’s the chocolate — everywhere.

Reaching for something sweet can feel like one of the few things that actually brings comfort in the moment. And that makes complete sense. Food is comfort. Sweet, nourishing foods can feel deeply satisfying and soothing — if you choose the right kind.

Tip 1: Quality over quantity

Choose chocolate with a high cocoa content. It may cost a little more, but you’ll need less to feel satisfied — and you get the magnesium your body needs, which is often depleted in times of high stress. Sometimes chocolate cravings can be just that — a signal that your body is asking for magnesium.

Tip 2: Mindful pairing

It’s not just how much chocolate you eat — it’s how you eat it. Genuinely good chocolate, eaten slowly and with attention, with some protein to steady its effect, can feel very different. More satisfying. More grounding. Less of that pull to keep eating more.

I’ve written more about how to navigate Easter chocolate without the energy crashes — including simple, practical tips that can turn chocolate into a real treat.

And if you'd like something to make with your hands this Easter…

Making food from scratch can be quietly therapeutic — especially something that tastes this good. I've put together a free Easter eBook with some chocolatey treats that are gut-friendly, nourishing, and genuinely satisfying.

Treats made with love that everyone can enjoy  without the guilt that often comes with traditional Easter sweets.

When you’re grieving, steadiness matters. Blood sugar spikes and crashes can amplify emotional ups and downs at a time when you’re already dealing with a lot.

So this Easter, rather than swearing off chocolate or eating it on autopilot, try something different: treat yourself to the good stuff, and savour it.

Wishing you a gentle Easter, with moments of real sweetness in it.

Much love,

Sabine
